Moroso has collaborated with designer Patricia Urquiola on a new collection of tables called Fishbone. Designed to accompany her M.a.s.s.a.s seating collection, also by Moroso, the tables are a playful herringbone design. The malleable palette of the cast acrylic composition has given Urquiola the freedom to create patterns that imitate natural materials such as horn, mother-of-pearl, marble and tortoise shell

The kerFchair is a flat pack furniture designed by Boris Goldberg made from CNC-machined birch wood. Instead of bending laminated wood, he applied a different technique to achieve the same effect. By using the kerfing technique, he avoided the laborious process of pressing the sheets of wood on a bending mold and clamping the together. Product designer Beatriz Nuño focuses on the importance of play with a simple candle holder she calls Pile . Each scrap piece of wood comes with a hole in it that allows a candle to slide through it to hold it in place. Stack a “pile” of them and you have a stable candle holder.

The name was inspired by “the alphabet of living” and the graphically-patterned series features 20 items ranging from curtains, a soft blanket, a kitchen towel, trays, along with coasters and trivets. Featuring Alvar Aalto’s iconic Siena fabric that was designed in 1954, it marks the first time the fabric will be used for items such as this. Also launched at the same time were products featuring the H55 fabric that was designed by architect Elissa Aalto in 1955. The products, which include an apron, bag, pillow covers, napkins, etc., are available in the grey and white or the black and white versions

Designers Rui Pereira and Ryosuke Fukusada took a look at how disconnected society has become with technology becoming more and more prevalent and decided to use fire as a means to bring people back together again. Their design,  Faro , is a fireplace that aims to increase socializing by having a place to gather around. The mini fireplace can be used indoors or outdoors with the use of an ethanol burner or regular wood for outside. Exploring materials such as red clay, hammered copper and aluminum, the design evokes a feeling of those traditional wood stoves.
