Pop-up shops are popping up all over London Design Festival ; here are three of this year’s best pop-up shops: Design and architecture magazine Dezeen have created Dezeen Space and taken up residence at 54 Rivington Street for a month (September 17-October 16) and during the Frieze Art Fair . Dezeen describes the space as “a multi-functional, experimental space, hosting a pop-up gallery, store, video studio and micro-event space.” Together with launching their first book, Dezeen Book of Ideas , will be handing over a 1m x 1m exhibition space to a different designer each day and documenting the work on show using a combination of photography, video and audio. Samuel Wilkinson’s Plumen lights Dominic Wilcox ’s Watch Sweeper Theo & Friends have popped-up at 65 Monmouth Street in Covent Garden, where they’ll be from September 16th-25th. Theo is the online design shop of Thorsten van Elten (Theo is Thorsten’s middle name), which he describes as his “little brother / alter ego.” “& Friends” include Rob Brandt, Daniel Emma, Kathleen Hills, Donna Wilson and Very Good and Proper. Donna Wilson cushions And finally, Today’s Specials , a market stall with the aim of supporting up-and-coming designers proves a retail space with low overheads for their products.
