Recent graduate Roland Beaven created the Peaucellier Lamp to show appreciation for “the beauty and tangibility of mechanisms.” The lamp pays homage to the Peaucellier straight-line linkage mechanism that was invented in 1864 and turns circular motion into linear motion. The ball on the right is filled with sand and acts as a counterweight and can be moved up and down to adjust the height of the lamp. I love that the lamp looks great in any position it’s adjusted.
