Brooklyn-based designer Emily Vislocky sent us her recently completed Poke & Squeeze , a set of tables she calls “uncomfortably anthropomorphic.” Poke & Squeeze are two tables created out of the idea to add the softness of human interaction to hard wood. Made to go together, the drawer fronts are made from flexible dip-molded plastic. The drawers fit inside hardwood padauk and maple boxes, and sit atop ornate cast iron bases. The drawer pulls beckon users to engage with a surprisingly, and, perhaps, uncomfortably, human-like interface.
