I’ve really, really, really been trying to be good and healthy when it comes to eating. I was doing so well without carbs until they sucked me back in again. Pizza, pasta, semolina rolls, bagels – why are you so good yet so bad?
Anyway, I’m back on the no-carb wagon, so I’m searching for different ways to curb my cravings. While searching the produce section at the grocery store, I saw a giant bag of kale and decided I was going to jump on the kale chip bandwagon. They’re quick, easy, pretty delicious and WAY better than a bag of Lays. This was my first batch, with a second one in my very near – like in the next hour – future, so it was a bit of a practice round. The second batch I plan on leaving in the oven for a bit longer because the crispier ones have been my favorite ones.
Here’s how you can make them on your own:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Chop kale in to smaller pieces. [If you cheat and use the bag like I did, there isn't much chopping necessary. In fact, I did no chopping whatsoever.] Arrange kale in a single layer on a baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil or cooking spray. Sprinkle with desired herbs and/or spices – I used only black pepper but I’m thinking a little garlic powder or crushed red pepper flakes will also be good. Pop sheet in oven, bake for about 10-15 minutes until desired crispiness is achieved. Let cool and enjoy!
Have you made your own kale chips? Did you add any fun spices?
