Would You Rather? Acrylic Edition

I have a thing for acrylic furniture. I don’t know what it is, but I love it! So, today’s Would You Rather is all about acrylic!

If you had your choice, would you go for a small acrylic console table? How about a set of acrylic Louis Ghost chairs around your dining table?

Maybe you’d prefer to show off your storage with a gorgeous acrylic trunk? Or would you rather a glamorous acrylic coffee table stealing the show in your living room?

If it were me, I’d choose E) All of the above!! And perhaps you’d choose F) None of the above. That’s ok – because then there’s more acrylic for me! So, seriously – which would you rather? Is your fondness for acrylic as great as mine?

Hollis Crib from Nurseryworks

I stopped dead in my tracks in front of the Nurseryworks booth at ICFF when I spotted this crib called Hollis . I had seen it online before but to see it in person was one of those moments where your heart stops for a split second.

Wall art: My IKEA hack

  1. Buy a HULTET bamboo dish 45cm.
  2. Cover it with golden acrylic paint, front and back.
  3. Look for a picture or a drawing of a hibiscus flower you like put it in the size you like and print it out, then cut it out trace it on the dish.
  4. Look for tendrils samples you like, or draw the lines freehand on the dish.
  5. Fill in the black background with acrylic paint.
  6. For the tendrils, you need 3D glue for foils (it dries up transparently, but it remains sticky).
  7. Cover the tendrils completely let it dry!!
  8. Apply the décor foil irregular (I’ve used a little red and bronze at the edge and covered the rest with gold). Important: the metallic or coloured side has to be above! Press on well and peel it off, repeat this step as often as necessary.

Shibafu

shibafu-table

This table is just fun to look at. The Shibafu Table made from 56 slender colored acrylic feet that are randomly arranged and meet a transparent acrylic top. It has been designed to look as if the legs are soaking under water, and it achieves this as its colors are reflected and refracted through its top. See more from designer Eammanuelle Moureaux here.

Kyeok Kim

These pieces by Kyeok Kim have bubble-like outgrowth that reminds me of bubbles overflowing from a dishwasher. To accomplish this effect, the designer used a combination of wax, urethane, acrylic painting, and text gel. via NOTCOT ©2010 Design Milk | Posted by Catrina in Home Furnishings | Permalink | No comments | Tweet This | Share on Facebook Facebook – Design Milk – Acrylic paint – NotCot – Business
