Baby Barrel Lamp by Nieuwe Heren

The Barrel Lamp by Nieuwe Heren has a new little brother, the Baby Barrel Lamp, also designed for Dutch design label called New Duivendrecht . The original Barrel Lamp was inspired by the aesthetics of WWI searchlights, and so this is a simpler, scaled-down version of the larger floodlight . Colonel Furniture Collection

Colonel , the French interior design team comprised of Isabelle Gilles and Yann Poncele, has just launched its first furniture collection. The line of four pieces is inspired by the aesthetics of outdoor furniture, like those found at the beach, in the garden, or on camping trips. It’s a contemporary re-reading of a (perhaps) bygone era, evoking summer and relaxation.

Modern Rocker

V5_rocker_primary

Even the rocking chair has gone mod. From North Carolina based furniture company Skram comes the Version 5 Rocker. No ordinary rocker, the Version 5 is the result of a nine year evolution of lounge chairs from Skram designer A. Jacob Marks. Describing his designs as “a negotiation of aesthetics, function, and practicalities” Marks sets his goals high and the Version 5 Rocker delivers. Fun and completely unique, it looks like a keeper to me.

Haute Bamboo

haute-bamboo

It was the name of the this collection that first caught my attention, but once I saw this image I was really intrigued.  Haute Bamboo is a collaboration between designers Bo Reudler and Olav Bruin, and “continues the quest to renew our connection with nature, guided by natural forms in an intuitive way”.

In this collection, both designers wanted to re-examine the aesthetics of bamboo, one of the world’s most renewable resources.  The Haute Bamboo Series will be officially launched during Fuori Salone Milan from April 14th through the 19th.  See more here.

Ohrensessel by Hannes Grebin

Comfort and aesthetics are turned on their heads when Hannes Grebin deconstructs the notion of couch and wingback chair. Grebin replaces the traditional overstuffed living room suite with furniture that is all angles, tarted up with fringe and doilies to remind the user of the antecedents. The Spieer Sofa is a sprawling four metres in length, and Ohrensessel is an armchair that appears to reach out for the user. Grebin’s Perser carpet also mirrors the play on shapes and angles that are married to traditional textiles.
