As of July 4th, Periscope Gallery in Tel Aviv is hosting Zemayesh , an exhibition by Eli Chissik of colorful, artistic furniture from scraps which he has called “wood-con-fusion.” Using raw materials and offcuts from carpenters, the artist creates rich, new hybrid furnishings that cross over from furniture to sculpture. Assembling random MDF plates, colored Formica, and solid wood, Chissik builds texture and paint and layers into graphic elements, which soon become functional objects. Through personal interpretation, Chissik revives iconic elements characteristics from different periods, and gives an abstract interpretation to the past under names such as “Dada”, “Bauhaus” and others. He will be showing his work at Canary Wharf in a new exhibition that runs through mid-November. What: Pieces Together: Carol McNicoll Ceramics Sam Scott Furniture When: September 24, 2012 – November 16, 2012 Where: Lobby, One Canada Square, Canary Wharf, E14 5AB Share This: Twitter | Facebook | Discover more great design by following Design Milk on Twitter and Facebook

Artistic Furnishings from Zift Design
July 1st, 2012 — Design
The Istanbul-based studio Zift Design makes a creative collection of products all with their own fresh perspective. The innovative line stands out from the rest with its modern and artistic take on your standard, everyday pieces like tables and shelves. Founded in 2006, this company also does interior design on top of their wide range of product ideas. You might remember that we featured Zift Design before but take a look at some of their newer pieces we thought were worthy of showing: Renk (first image also) is their newest piece of furniture that was designed specifically for an exhibition.
