Brooklyn-based Calico Wallpaper began haphazardly during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy when Rachel Mosler and Nick Cope were stranded in their loft and out of work for a month. Instead of sitting around, Mosler got inspired to marbleize paper. Hundreds of prototype swatches later, they decided to expand them and turn them into wallpaper.

Admirers of the hipster hunting chic aesthetic associate the name Jason Miller with his ceramic antler sconces and chandeliers, though his Modo chandeliers are also all the rage among lighting lovers. However, this Brooklyn-based design master is also the maker of bone china with beautifully delicate gold chains, and furniture, both woolly and duct-taped. It’s no surprise that his Friday Five reveals a penchant for nature and earthy art
