Materials: Lack TV stand, four mid-century legs, wall pop stickers (orange), plywood, foam board Description: I submitted the Fullen Bar hack a while ago, and since I am never satisfied with my living room, this week I decided to tackle my lack TV stand. I recently “inherited” some mid-century furniture legs which I used to replace the short, chunky lack legs. NEW LEGS – The lack TV stand particle board was not strong enough to hold the screws for the new legs so I had a half inch thick plywood board cut to 54″x18″. – I attached the legs to the corners of the board, making a bench. – I then attached the Lack TV stand to the plywood bench with three inch screws.

Materials: ÄPPLARÖ Description: Materials: Ikea ÄPPLARÖ wall panel Description: I looked and looked for a simple headboard for my queen size metal bed frame (the typical kind with four casters and holes for attaching a headboard and footboard), but couldn’t find a suitable one anywhere. After finding the Ikea Hackers website, I decided that I’d be creative and “hack” myself a headboard. My requirements were these: – It had to be lightweight and easily moveable (I rent and I like to move my furniture around). – It had to be affordable (I set myself a budget of no more than 99 dollars). – It had to be around 62-63 inches wide (to properly fit the width of the queen bed frame).

Materials: EXPEDIT 2×2 bookshelves, extra EXPEDIT panel, HUTTEN wine bottle rack, INREDA stemware rack, LEDBERG 3-piece light strip set Description: It’s a pretty straight-forward hack that was made to hide the back of my sectional, provide more storage, a bar and a seating area where I can use my laptops. I connected two EXPEDIT 2×2 with the side panel of an EXPEDIT 4×4 using the safety brackets that are used to tie furniture to the wall. To create the bar area a stemware rack, a wine bottle rack were cut to size, painted black and installed. To have the bar lit, the LEDBERG 3-piece light strip was used

Materials: Lack Coffee table (birch effect), stain, paint in different colors, clear paint, sand paper Description: Our Lack table didn’t match the rest of our furniture anymore, so I looked for an idea to fit in. First I sanded the thin layer of clear paint from the table, hoping to find at least a little bit of something what is called wood, plywood or similar.

Materials: 2 x standard Besta open shelves, Faktum doors, wood panel Description: I needed a thin cabinet for one side of my very small kitchen. The 20cm wide Besta open shelves were exactly the right width. However, the wall would not support the weight of the shelves so I couldn't mount them on it and I loathe and despise visible feet on furniture.

Farbkasten by Sven Stornebel is a product with my favorite product description so far this year: “just a box with color glue.” So matter-of-fact and nonchalant. There’s something really cool about these – I would love to see them with a gradient of colored glue from top to bottom.
