Japanese design studio Nendo designed a simple wooden storage shelf with circular-shaped glass discs that serve as the doors. The design was inspired by “the historical practice of cutting sheet glass from glass discs” and the resulting transparent discs retain that beautiful, handmade quality about them. The discs rotate in the shelf’s slots when you use the finger-sized handles to move them. The glass has bubbles and depressions in the surface that help distort the objects you place on the shelves behind them. The shelf was part of a larger exhibition called “Glassworks by Nendo” at the Dilmos Gallery in Milan.

Black interior doors. Such an interesting concept. I’ve never actually seen or thought about black interior doors until I saw them on Pinterest a few days ago.
Against glossy white molding, I love the way the black pops. One home I saw painted the doors facing the hallway black and kept the interior (facing the bedrooms and bathrooms) white, which adds a contrast and element of surprise.
Is there any other color you can imagine painting your interior doors? Other than white or ivory, of course! I’m not sure I can…maybe a dark glossy navy but I would still probably prefer black. How about you?

Materials: 2 x standard Besta open shelves, Faktum doors, wood panel Description: I needed a thin cabinet for one side of my very small kitchen. The 20cm wide Besta open shelves were exactly the right width. However, the wall would not support the weight of the shelves so I couldn't mount them on it and I loathe and despise visible feet on furniture.

Materials: Besta Shelf/Vassbo doors Description: I came home about a month ago and my wife had re-arranged our bedroom furniture after 7 years in the same spot. Of course, it made for a rather uncomfortable viewing angle for the television. She wanted me to mount something to the wall, to hide the cords (power and network), and she wanted glass doors. (She's a woman who knows what she wants!) I picked up a Besta shelving unit and Vassbo doors to match our existing decor

The Accordion Cabinet by designer Elisa Strozyk and artist Sebastian Neeb is a bookshelf that stands on long legs with a set of flexible doors. Opening and closing the cabinet resembles the folding of an accordion, thus its name. Using wooden textiles, the duo was able to get the look they desired while still allowing the cabinet doors to flex easily
