Fashion Inspired by.. a Bedroom!

It’s Fashion Week here in NYC and naturally all of our social media feeds are being flooded with fashion. One thing in particular really caught my eye- fashion designer Phillip Lim’s Spring 2015 Collection that was inspired by.. his bedroom! Apparently he has been renovating his apartment for almost a year which left him to camp out in the one room of his place that was still intact- his bedroom. All of the fabrics used in this collection are ones you might find in the most elegant boudoir. You can expect to see quilted and quilled fabrics reminiscent of mattress slips, bed-head hairstyles, and heels which were pillowed. His new bag- the triangle Quill even looks like a satin pillow when it’s unhooked. This is proof that designers can truly find inspiration in anything. #iwokeuplikethis

What do you think? Can you see the bedroom-inspiration in these looks?

Sweet Dreams- ZzZzZzZz!

Like sleeping on a cloud, float on to sweet dreams on a D.I.Y. floating bed. Floating beds create an open, airy vibe to your bedroom and are similar to kicking your feet up on a hammock, but much more comfortable! Here are a few amazing floating beds with different styles of décor. Use them as inspiration and create your own!

The Faux Bois Trend

Have you tried it yet? I came across this great idea in the DIY section of pinterest.  The Martha Stewart wood grain rocker seems to work really well on all types of surfaces including walls, dressers, coffee tables, headboards, and cabinets giving them a true “wooden” effect. This could be a fun DIY weekend project for that old table collecting dust in the garage. Try it out!

The More White, The Better!

Any fashionista will tell you that Labor Day is the last day of the year to get away with wearing white. Luckily, these rules don’t apply to home decor. The more white, the better! White has the ability to exude crisp cleanliness, elegance, and opulence. Today, while fashionistas everywhere are getting their last dose of white for the summer, I celebrate WHITE! Here are some really eye-catching all-white rooms. Enjoy!

DIY Book Page Wall Art

Have you ever seen words on a page that just spoke to you? I came across this great idea of blowing up a book page and using it as wall art.  You can use it for inspiration or simply to make you fall in love with those words over and over again. I love a good do-it-yourself project, and this one is simple enough for anyone to do. Make it your own by choosing a frame with your own individual taste that matches the vibe of the room you will be hanging it in. I personally would love to age the paper and add an antique effect to it. Try it out and share your pictures with us!

Industrial Design with a Killer View

We’re pretty lucky to have the best of both worlds- the quiet suburbs of New Jersey when we want to escape the noise and NYC just a short ride away when we want to play. One of this summer’s hotspots is designed by architect Andrew Franz. La Marina, a restaurant, bar, lounge and event space is right along the Hudson River and has one of the best views I have ever seen. It’s already had some high-baller visitors such as Jay-Z and Beyonce, Lil’ Wayne, Leonardo DiCaprio and Carmelo Anthony.

Besides its great location, cool vibe and stunning view, La Marina has minimalist industrial décor. A large portion of the restaurant was built using reclaimed materials including wood siding, railings, fencing and deck materials. The floors and ceiling are made of concrete and corrugated steel dimly lit by blown glass lighting. Behind the bar, cabinets are distressed with pastel-colored woods and paired with high steel bar stools in red, orange and gunmetal. What do you think of this space?

V.M.A’s & The Artist’s Million Dollar Homes

Did you get a chance to watch the VMA’s last night? There were definitely some iconic moments- Beyonce’s killer performance, Miley Cyrus showing us her softer side by shedding tears, and Nicki Minaj’s wardrobe malfunction are just a few of the major moments at the show.

Ever wondered what some of these artists houses look like? Here is a look into three super successful artist’s homes. Lil Wayne has a $13.9 million home in Miami, Florida with floor-to-ceiling windows that’s spacious and crisp white with pops of color. Check it out!

Justin Timberlake’s $7.65 million home in SoHo, NYC has an upscale, modern hotel feel with top-of the-line amenities. I could just imagine the incredible view from the penthouse!

The oh-so-controversial Miley Cyrus surprisingly went with a neutral palette with subtle pops of color in her $3.9 million retro modern home in Studio City, California.

Although they have very different music styles, it seems that these three celebs share similar taste in home decor. Which home is your favorite?

Barely There Chairs

When you walk into a candle-lit room or a dining room with a gorgeous chandelier as a focal point, it screams of elegance. Something about the clear glass instantly adds a look of sophistication. Another way to achieve that look is with sleek clear chairs. These barely-there chairs make dining rooms more luxurious while giving a farmhouse chic effect to more rustic spaces. Drape a sheepskin rug over a vanity chair to add coziness and warmth. Use your imagination and get the look here. Here are just a few of our favorites!
