Yes, the spring equinox got the ball rolling on the spring season but here in New Jersey the weather has been so up and down some days it is hard to tell what season we are in. Hopefully, today, May Day will truly set in stone the spring renewal and we can continue to enjoy warm sunshine and blooming flowers. In many cultures, May Day is a traditional spring holiday. It is celebrated by dancing, singing and eating lots of cakes and goodies. So, dance, sing and be merry today – remember this is the season of positive growth and rebirth!

Mmm scrumptious jam….and no, I don’t mean that deliciously sweet condiment, I’m talking about the Jam Chair by Calligaris. This ultra-modern dining and side chair comes in an array of different transparent colors that spread over the outside of the chair like sweet jam on your breakfast toast! The interior of the chair comes in a glossy white finish while the cutout back allows you to get a peak at the colorful exterior shell. You can also peep a glimpse of the color along the sides of the chairs as well when you are viewing it from the front. The shell itself is made from bicolor technopolymer and is extremely smooth, comfortable and durable. The sleek and elegant chromed steel legs (in either sled or four-legged base) offer a stable and sturdy stance. This Italian-made, funky little chair has a whole lot of personality and would pair nicely with a minimalist contemporary dining table preferably with a chromed metal base.

The earth provides us with everything we need. From the air we breathe, the water we drink to the food we eat and the land we reside on. Earth has given us all of herself and deserves to be treated with respect and care. It is not everyday we do the absolute best we can to lessen our carbon footprint, but for one day, today, let’s pay homage to our beautiful planet. Happy Earth Day!

The Ripple Armchair by Zuo Modern is lovely to look at and probably even better to relax on! The design is quite intriguing with different shades of green and white ribbon-like panels that flow along its center. The cushioned panels create a wave-like, ripple effect that is not only visually interesting but also massages the body as you lounge on it. It is upholstered in sleek and supple leatherette which is soft against the skin and very easy to clean. The chair is supported by a chromed solid steel double-sled base for extra strength and an added touch of shine. This chair would look fantastic in a contemporary, modern or even transitional environment especially one with green accents.

Healthy, tasty and energizing, fresh salads make the perfect lunch on a warm spring day. Even if you are not the greatest cook, salads are easy to make, all you need is the right ingredients. I recommend picking up your herbs, veggies and fruits from a local farmers market if you have one nearby. The produce is usually fresher and cheaper than a grocery supermarket. Some people find it easier to just grab a salad to go but if you make your own, you can save money and also add that touch of love and attention that makes a meal absolutely delicious! Below are 3 very basic scrumptious salads you can make quickly and easily:
Green Salad with Strawberries and Goat Cheese:
Start with your foundation of baby spinach greens. Add in some thinly sliced strawberries, fresh chives, crumbled goat cheese and chopped pecans. You can even top it off with some grilled chicken if you want to add a little extra protein to the mix.
Mixed Green Simple Salad:
Combining a variety of different greens can have stellar results! Frisée, radicchio and arugula are slightly bitter greens that can be mixed with mellow-flavored greens such as red leaf lettuce, romaine, and baby spinach. Add a few cherry tomatoes, thinly sliced red onions or cashews for an extra kick. Top it off with any dressing of your choice – I recommend a basic vinaigrette or citronette dressing for both a fit and tasty choice.
Traditional Greek Salad:
Use a head of romaine lettuce as the base ingredient. Tear it up into bite-size pieces. Coarsely chop 3 large plum tomatoes. Peel and coarsely chop 1 English cucumber. Cut 1 medium red onion into thin rings – make sure to soak them in a small bowl of ice water for 10 minutes to make them less sharp. Cut 1 small green pepper into thin rings. Add ¾ cup of kalamata olives and ¾ cup of crumbled feta cheese. Mix them all together. To make a delicious dressing to go with your Traditional Greek Salad, use 6 tbsps of olive oil, 1 ½ tbsps of fresh lemon juice, 1 tbsp of red wine vinegar, mince 2 garlic cloves and 1 tsp of dried oregano. Whisk all of the dressing ingredients together. Finally, mix both the salad and dressing for one exceptional salad!

Winter isn’t the only time to decorate with gorgeous wreaths. Greet your guests with spring cheer by adding a lovely flower wreath to the front door of your home. Unlike winter wreaths, which are typically made from holly and pine – spring wreaths offer so many color, flower and ornamental combinations to choose from when deciding which one fits your personal style.
