If you love spending time in the outdoors and if you to craft, there is a fun way to combine interests to make beautiful natural accents that can be worn as accessories or used as decorations for your home.
What you’ll need:
- Natural materials – collect and gather items in nature (twigs, leaves, flowers, branches, etc.)
- Hairspray or epoxy resin (epoxy is best for creations you want to preserve for a very long period of time and is best for wearable accessories)
- Your imagination!
Take a nature walk, a hike or step right into your own backyard to find the materials you need. I do suggest looking for vines, corn husks, thick long grass or any other material that is both strong and bendable – something that can be used to naturally wrap and tie your different materials together and keep them in place.
Once you’ve picked everything you think you might use, start creating! Have fun with it. Piece together items you think look nice based on color, shape, pattern. Really anything you want to place together – these are your handpicked, handmade accents!
Spray your pieces using hairspray or coat in an epoxy resin to preserve them.
If you want to turn these into wearable brooches or pins, you can go to a local craft store and pick up loose clasps and glue them on back using a strong glue like guerilla glue.
Whether you make them into large scale interior decorations or small scale fashion accessories, you can have a lot of fun making these and gifting them to friends and family members!

In a lovely home in Ringwood, New Jersey, traditional style thrives in this classically designed living room.
Two small steps lead down to the den, where a chocolate brown leather furniture set with a wooden brown coffee table are the main focus on this design. To the left is an elegant half moon shaped, arched bar with a vintage inspired chandelier hanging between the bar and sofa to the right side.
On the other side of the bar, a large and colorful asian inspired vase on a wooden pedestal. To the right a beautiful wooden display case featuring family photographs and heirlooms. Classic art and paintings hang on the walls with a stunning chess table in wood and marble is positioned to the side.
A wooden side table with two ornate candle holders are displayed. The oriental rug on the carpet adds a touch of elegance and subtle colorful detail. A large flat screen television faces the furniture but because it is on the wall with the entrance way, it remains out of the way and only noticeable when sitting down to watch. The windows are decorated with tufted canopies in an olive green color accented with floral pattern adding yet another splash of color.
This beautiful traditional design is warm, cozy and perfect for friends and family to gather for a drink, game of chess or to watch their favorite television program.

Making breakfast foods is about one of the easiest meals to make, however, to make an omelette that tastes more like it was created in an upscale bed and breakfast you can try your hand at the Bitter Sweet Veggie Omelette.
What You’ll Need:
- Eggs – 3 to 4
- whole milk – 1 – 2 tbsps
- Mild cheddar (shredded) – 1/2 cup
- sweet peppers (orange, red, yellow) – diced
- asparagus – chopped
- vegetable oil – 1 tsp
- onions – diced
- butter – 1 tbsp
- spices – rosemary, ground thyme, ground black pepper, sea salt, onion powder
Saute the onions in olive oil in a frying pan on medium high heat – before they turn golden brown, add the peppers, turn the heat to medium low heat, allow them to simmer.
Combine the milk and eggs in a bowl, whisk with a fork, add butter to a separate frying pan on medium heat, after the butter has melted, spread it around on the pan, add eggs to the frying pan, allow to cook lightly for about 45 seconds to a minute, add the onions and peppers.
Add spices to desired taste. I would say sprinkle only a bit of sea salt, ground thyme and rosemary, you can be generous with the pepper and onion powder.
In the pan used for the peppers and onions, add your asparagus (you can add a little more vegetable oil) allow to cook on medium high heat for about 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
Place shredded cheddar cheese on top of eggs, allow to melt briefly then add the asparagus on top. Sprinkle a little more ground pepper and sea salt on top of the asparagus.
Remove from heat and using a spatula, gently remove from frying pan and place on a dish.
The delicious veggie medley is held together with melted cheese and egg, the first bite will have the lightly bitter taste with a crunch of asparagus followed by the mild sweetness of cheddar cheese, sweet peppers and onions. A colorful and tasty omelette that is sure to satisfy your taste buds.

Add a little sweetness to your morning with a quick and easy cinnamon bun recipe using a few simple ingredients you can find right in your kitchen.
What You’ll Need:
- Pilsbury Crescents
- Country Crock or another spreadable margarine or butter
- Ground Cinnamon Spice
- Sugar (preferably granulated)
- Brown Sugar (Optional)
Follow the directions on the Pilsbury Crescent package. Except when you take them out don’t shape them into crescents. They will come out as one giant roll, just separate them into circular shapes.
Once your biscuits are finished baking. Take a butter knife and add your spreadable butter (about 1 tbsp) in a mixing dish. Add about 1 tsp of sugar, sprinkle about a 1/4 tsp of cinnamon and a pinch of brown sugar – the brown sugar is optional but definitely adds that authentic cinnamon bun taste to the mix.
Use your butter knife to mix the butter, sugar and cinnamon together. Give it a taste test before spreading it on your biscuits. Add a little more sugar or cinnamon if desired. Then spread on your biscuits. The measurements given are for one biscuit so if you have 6 or more, just add to the mixture. This is best to do once the biscuits are fresh out of the oven because the cinnamon swirl mixture will melt on and into the biscuits.
This cinnamon bun swirl recipe is quick, easy and simply delicious!

Play no games, except when attempting to approach both men and women in a social setting.
the joker approach: keep a small laminated photo of a baby goat in your wallet at all times and ask the unsuspecting yet intrigued contender “hey want to see a picture of my kid?” Watch a smile permanently ingrained upon their face for the rest of the night.
the performer approach: ask for three random objects in persons purse or wallet and begin juggling said objects, watch his or her eyes light up with excitement and confusion
the artist approach: carry a sketch pad easel and beret and a small jar of beeswax with you, approach a beautiful man or woman and say “je te peindrai” which means “I will paint you.” Don’t ask in question form so they can’t say yes or no. Note: the small jar of beeswax is for men or more daring women who would like to curl their stache up on both sides to give it that full french effect.
the classic approach: simply walk over and say hello, introduce yourself like a proper gentlemen.
the bro approach: make sure this one doesn’t turn into a party fail, no homo bro but you’re gonna have to hold off the hair gel tonight as you will be perspiring more than normal and the axe body spray won’t save you, do the jersey shore shuffle right up into his or her posse begin shouting random things into their faces like “jager bombs” and “tequila shots” then offer a coconut oil massage, say “i want to be on you like white on rice” then hand them a coupon for a 2 for 1 special at the local barber / salon.
the handyman approach (note: not to be confused with the bro approach, the handyman approach is basically the same only yields different results): carry a screw in your back pocket, approach your potential new friend, pull out the screw, look them dead in the eye and ask “wanna screw?”
the knight in shining armor approach: literally show up in a suit of armor (mandatory), shine it up before you get there – keep it classy and be on horseback (optional), she’ll be oozing in the thrill of a seeing a horse at a bar, this is the deal sealer – keep your sword sheathed for the possible festivities at the end of the night.
the biggie approach: as soon as he buys that wine just creep up from behind, ask them what their interests are, who they be with, things to make them smile, what numbers to dial, then say “you gon be here for awhile? Ima call my crew, you gon call your crew, we can rendezvous at the bar around 2.” Then throw your keys to lil cease and then pull the truck upfront.
the promoter approach: take up all the air in the room, list off every project you are working on, every single project you and your family, your friends, your family friends dog is working on, then hand them like 5 stickers, 2 flyers, 1 coupon and your homies mixtape. Then say “its lit fam” stand awkwardly for a solid 30 seconds, hopefully they will be so impressed by all the things you said they will begin to stroke your ego or want to continue a conversation or maybe they show up at one of the 20 events you told them about.
Next time you are in a local pub or at your public library , use these fail proof approaches for starting conversation with unassuming prospects.

The 1930s Hollywood glam trend is on a roll this year but how can we fit this fabulously chic style into our modern decor? If you want to add the over-the-top glamour of this style to your home without turning the whole place into the set of Some Like it Hot, try adding just one piece of furniture like the elegant Whitney Velvet Sofa with a few mid-century modern accent pieces.
The Whitney Sofa is fully upholstered in a smooth and soft velvet fabric with button tufting accents from head to toe. It’s crystal clear, spherical acrylic feet peek out from under it, adding yet another element of luxurious style. The color is a blush pink that stands out without being overpowering when complemented with white, gray and neutral colored decor items. Aside from the 3 paneled abstract wall decor which features a few splashes of a similar pink as the sofa in the mix.
A geometric, white square coffee table with a tray top to keep items secure and to prevent spillage create a contemporary loft combined with cottage home feel. A fresco-secco painted wall technique in gray highlights the modern gray carpet.
Tie the room together with a easy to maintain house plant like this succulent cactus to bring the outdoors inside. Hollywood chic blush pink with modern minimalist white and gray make an absolutely stunning color combination in a simple and stylish setting.

Heat on the fritz this winter or perhaps you don’t have heat in your home? No problem! There is a cool way to keep your rooms toasty warm and add a little fun to the mix as well.
I spent a week staying in a friends spare room in their attic this past holiday season, they had to prepare quickly for my arrival as it was unexpected but they did an awesome job! The highlight of the space upstairs – their faux fireplace which served as both a powerful and visually pleasing space heater during my stay!
Unlike other space heaters, they are in an enclosed space for safety and to add to the appeal of looking like a “real” fireplace.
What looks like coals or burning wood light up red with a screen in the background with yellowing flames rising up to show you it is on. Plus, it makes a great nightlight and is very soothing while asleep.
Knobs on the front allow you to control the temperature manually.
Most space heaters even come with a tiny remote control to be able to manipulate the temperature.
The electric fireplace is relatively quiet, it was so realistic I could have sworn I heard crackling like a real fireplace though or perhaps it was just my imagination!
You can opt for a more modern looking electric fire place or one that has more of that classic style to it.
Electric fireplaces are portable and you can plug them in just about anywhere as long as you have a power outlet! These are a great alternative during those colder winter months!

After all the madness of the holidays are done and most of us have the day off on New Years, it is the perfect day to treat yourself to whatever it is you feel like doing. A lot of us don’t even know what to do with ourselves if we are so used to working or doing things for other people. Give yourself a holistic treatment day, one where you can revive your mind, body and spirit for the year ahead.
