Lighted Line Drawings: WIREFLOW by Arik Levy for Vibia

Designer Arik Levy takes lighting to a whole new level with his latest for Vibia called WIREFLOW. Composed of thin rods, the geometrical sculptures appear to be almost like two dimensional line drawings. Take a step to the left or right and you see that some are even three dimensional forms suspended in the air holding LED lights

Voronoi Bird Cage by Melody Rees

Designer Melody Rees has re-imagined the home in which your fluttering pets take up residence with the Voronoi Bird Cage . The design was digitally printed with a Voronoi pattern embedded into the bright blue material, making it fit into most modern homes. The geometric design is varied but opens up around the center part of the cage to give the birds an optimum view while looking out. The organic texture of the pattern is meant to make the bird feel at home with shadows being cast through the holes much like the sun falls through the branches of a tree. The design flat Pattern

Star Pendant Lamps by Mambo

There is something of a trend going on lately of these types of cage-like geometric designs – from Ana Cláudia’s jewelry to Dave Hulsbergen’s lamps  and I’m digging it. So that’s probably why I also like  Mambo’s  new series of three Star pendant lamps created for the ETTERO collection. I love the random placement of the lines, too as if they were growing organically like branches or bone. And, +1 for brass.

Anne Boenisch

German product designer Anne Boenisch creates home furnishings that are both functional, and most definitely, sculptural. Most of the products contain strong geometric qualities with beautiful shapes and lines. These are her latest pieces: The MOTION collection consists of a folding stool and table that utilize stainless steel bolts in the frame and seat, allowing the piece to be “stretched and squeezed” horizontally. I love that it can be flattened when not in use.

GDG Studios

GDG Studios is the New Jersey-based design studio run by Joseph Gower who creates handmade porcelain objects with a contemporary twist. The Crochet and Styroware pieces are so unique and completely fun to stare at. I love the textures and shapes that he creates along with the added touches of gold or silver and even cotton. I love any and all things faceted so these pieces really speak to my geometric shapes-loving heart. Copper covers a wooden frame in these geometric shapes that extend from the wall giving a far more beautiful look than your average mirror. They are minimal in design but with an edge. Each of the three styles comes in a limited edition of 10.

Fritz Hansen x Paul Smith

Yay! I love this collaboration. Danish company Fritz Hansen is working with Maharam and Kvadrat for the launch of Point by Paul Smith. British Designer Paul Smith is known for his vibrant textiles and his reimagining of traditional Scottish Fair Isle knitting is evident in his new Point collection. Available in seven different geometric patterns and eleven colorways, the fabrics are being upholstered onto a selection of Fritz Hansen’s classic design icons including the Egg, Swan and Grand Prix by Arne Jacobsen and the PK22 chair by Poul Kjærholm, as well as the Alphabet Sofa by Piero Lissoni. So fun! Share This: Twitter | Facebook | Discover more great design by following Design Milk on Twitter and Facebook .
