Vaulot&Dyèvre created Nymphéa, a very dramatic hanging light fixture, for Paris-based Galerie Gosserez . Made of hanging metal discs encircled with LEDs, each Nymphéa chandelier creates a dramatic atmosphere suspended between design and art. The discs can be brought up and tied to change the direction of the light. Much like lily pads, they seem to float above the surface of the floor, as if in an imaginary pond. The pieces are limited of 15 pieces by models + two prototypes (seven different colors of the model are available)

I could not have been more excited when I saw the LygoLamp from the Netherlands-based design firm Studio Mango . Inspired by LEGO bricks, they created a circular hanging lamp that arrives at your home in the form of 12 dozen curved, interlocking plastic bricks, as well as the necessary lighting hardware. After some childhood block building fun, you have yourself a super cool and modern fixture that will surely get people talking.

The three limited-edition space-age Hanging Lights by Anthony Clune are available on Tonky Designs and each design reminds me of three distinct things: water, fire, and snow. The designs also vaguely remind me of the colors of the United States flag (if the orange design was a bit more red). This one is called “New Romancer” and it’s a more oblique nod to William Gibson’s landmark sci-fi novel Neuromancer . ©2010 Design Milk | Posted by Catrina in Home Furnishings | Permalink | No comments | Tweet This | Share on Facebook William Gibson – United States – Neuromancer – Facebook – Science fiction
