For many, today is the first day back to a full week of work after two weeks of holidays. Factor in all of the holiday preparation before that and all of the undecorating after, and it becomes a case of the post-holiday blues.
Some people I’ve talked to are happy that the hustle and bustle of the holidays are over, which I am too in some ways, but then I look at my empty living room where my tree was just hours ago and it is a bit depressing.
I did a quick search of these post-holiday blues to see what people were saying about it, and I came across a list of ten ways to beat the holiday blues. Many of them include volunteering and doing other good deeds, but one of them hit home to what we’ve been talking about here: decluttering!
As for myself, I’ve been feeling a little bummed the past few days and I think the holidays having come and gone may have something to do with it. That, and the fact that my Christmas tree was infested with gross bugs. Guess I better act on all the decluttering I’ve been talking about!
What about you? Are you feeling the post-holiday blues?

In lieu of the holiday season, there won’t be a Weekly Six this week, but rather a round-up of sequins. Being that New Year’s Eve is on Monday, I’m in the mood for sequins. How about you?
Last night at the mall, I snagged up an adorable sequin dress and the gold sequin clutch above. So now I’m in the sequin mood more than ever! Wouldn’t it be fun to host a party with those sequin chairs or that sequin table cloth?
Or that sequin graffiti on the side of your house? Yes, please!
Will you be wearing or decorating with sequins this New Year’s Eve?

Happy Eve of Christmas Eve! Are you ready for the holiday festivities this weekend? I am! (But I need a nap first.)
Here’s this week’s Weekly Six – if you have time to check them out!
1) Let me just get this out of the way: I need that diamond immediately. IMMEDIATELY! (It’s made by Ron van der Ende)
2) Since it’s getting colder, let’s dream of spending time in warm weather on this awesome modern outdoor furniture that looks like it melted into the ground.
3) There’s still time to make some chocolate truffles for the holidays!
4) And also time to make these DIY bows from leftover magazines.
5) Here’s a DIY for after the holidays: lacquered bowls for all the jewelry you got for Christmas or Hanukkah!
6) If you have little ones, I suggest uploading a photo of your home to shown them how you caught Santa leaving their presents. I love this idea! (Image from their Flickr page)
And that’s all! Have a lovely holiday weekend and we’ll see you back here on Tuesday!

We don’t do gift guides here on Design Milk because everyone does them. We like to be different. Last year, we did staff wishlists and once again we thought it would be fun to continue this new tradition and ask each current contributor what was on their wishlist this holiday season — realistic or pipe dream. So, for 2 weeks we featured staff wishlists — see them all here . These are some of my absolute FAVORITE designs that I would die to buy

With everyone looking forward to the long holiday weekend coming up, I figured now is the time to feature this cool grill I’ve been wanting. Not only does it have a great look and come in an amazing selection of vibrant colors, its compact size makes it perfect for apartments, condos, and small spaces.
Called the FYRKAT, this charcoal grill is easily portable as well, so it’s perfect for tailgating too! Best of all, you can grab one in time for the summer holidays at a very reasonable 49.95. More here.
