The Urban Logs Collection is the latest line of limited-edition furniture from Ilan Dei Studio . Focusing on “urban renewal” each piece gives new life to urban and suburban trees that have been removed and are destined to become waste or firewood. Each log has a different shape, texture, and story which adds a history and brings some uniqueness to each piece. This natural individuality is contrasted by the simple, yet industrial elements of safety orange (love!) tube, orange upholstery and smoky copper-tinted mirrors. The designers were inspired to create this collection after seeing beautiful pieces of unused logs lying around the neighborhoods surrounding the studio in Venice, CA

The OTTA table, designed by Finne Architects, utilizes an irregular blackened steel frame with alternating panels of clear and satin etch Starphire low-iron glass. The table explores the idea of abstracting natural forms and fabricating them in a pure industrial material. Photography by Benjamin Benschneider

In 1921, a young engineer named Bernard-Albin Gras designed a series of lamps for use in offices and industrial environments. The Lampe Gras, as it came to be known, is the quintessential French architect lamp. Astounding in its simple yet beautiful design, which had neither screws nor welded joints in the basic form, it quickly gained a cult following in France.
