How about the Shadow Chair?
Available through Duffy London, the Shadow Chair is a unique dining chair that appears to be defying gravity by standing on two legs. Take a closer look and you’ll see the shadow of the chair is actually the base of the chair and integrated into the design.
Made of powder-coated mild steel, the Shadow Chair is available in a variety of finishes, including a special edition polished stainless steel version. There is also a Shadow Sofa and a Wolf Within (Shadow Chair) to complete the Shadow Collection.
How many friends and family members do you think you can fool with these illusionary chairs?
Duffy London is a furniture design company started by Chris Duffy in 2002. For more information, visit the Duffy London website at http://www.duffylondon.com.

The Angle Chair is intriguing from all angles. Designed by designer and artist Julian Mayor, the Angle Chair is a unique modern seating piece made from recycled honeycomb boards.
Initially, the Angle Chair was created from the map of a person’s seat. The map was then digitized on the computer and sectioned out to create a graphic model. Each Angle Chair is then created from a 3D model and is a numbered edition.
Based out of East London, Julian Mayor is also teaches at the London College of Communication. For information on Mayor’s exhibitions, other products and how to purchase, head to his website at http://www.julianmayor.com/.

Yesterday I stumbled upon the website of Timothy Schreiber, a designer based out of London. Although I couldn’t find a biography on his website, there is a Wikipedia page about Timothy Schreiber, which states that he has won three Red Dot Design Awards throughout his career.
Take a look at Timothy Schreiber’s website to see all of the “pop modernist” furniture he designs. Above is the S-08 Bench, designed by Schreiber. It is made out of clear section of colored acrylic. Each piece of acrylic is fixed upon two flexible guides that you can see through the acrylic. This mechanism allows you to create the bench as you please, with various colors, lengths and even shapes.
Another piece from Schreiber’s collection is the X-Lounger. The X-Lounger is based on a single ray that is traced along a double curve surface so that it achieves a “random looking yet controlled construction pattern.” Available in satin aluminum or malaysian rattan, the X-Lounger is just one of many contemporary pieces on Schreiber’s website, which is definitely worth checking out.
What’s your favorite piece?

What a stunning image and in it truly spectacular lighting. The Decanter Lights by Lee Broom are made from crystal decanters that the artist finds at vintage shops. Some are left naturally transparent, and other get a polished gold finish. The Decanter Lights can be seen at Coquine – a West London bar that Lee Broom also designed. You know when your plane starts descending and you know it’s almost time to land, and you look out the window and see the same world you’ve always seen but in a whole new way – from above it all? It’s a common experience that I’m sure many of us have shared, the beauty of which designer Liz Eeuwes appreciated enough to capture. Her new collection of rugs illustrates exactly that, and you can see from these images that it is both an intriguing idea and a beautifully illustrated concept.
Pictured in these two images is the Strathmore Rug, inspired by a bird’s eye view of the Scottish countryside. Her collection also includes the Lisse inspired by Tulip Fields and the Bali by rice patty terraces. This collection will be shown in the Futures Area at 100% Design as part of London Design Week 2009 from September 24-27. Learn more at Eeuwes’ website.
