Peg lamp and chair is designed by Toronto-based designer Tomas Rojcik . The objects are manufactured using both advanced 3D printing techniques and traditional materials such as resin, parchment, and maple. The two designs are conscious of small-spaces, and can overlap each other in any number of ways. Rojcik’s penchant for combining traditional and novel design allows him to portray both human and non-human qualities of manufacture – a dichotomy that needs to be seen more often these days. The lamp nestles in between the legs of the chair to represent a secluded personal space.

Tilt it this way, tilt it that way; the Tilta floor lamp by Scoope Design introduces a new, fun approach to the way a lamp can stand out in a home. Available in both a pedestal and reading lamp size, this lamp’s concrete base allows it to rotate at almost 360 degrees. Tilta can lay on any of its octagonal shaped sides to produce an angle of 30 degrees for each surface. This mechanism is simply done by using the force of gravity along with its weight to control where it goes. The metal part on top of the bulb functions as a handle to allow the user to grab it and tilt it in any direction they choose.

Sara Ferrari designed this modular sofa, called Baco, for Italian company Deco using 100% natural materials, which is part of the company’s philosophy. The back cushions simply lay on the seat, making everything easy to change and maneuver and they are available in plain or quilted/capitonnè. The American Standards Lamp by Peter Bristol is a bit of a commentary on some of our current American building techniques. The standard construction materials and methods used in the US are realized in this lamp. “From the 2×4 wall studs to the cheap light switches, it seems that when building a wall, location is really the only decision left to make.

Nucleo is presenting the Petroglyph collection in the first edition of PAD New York, through Gallerie Secondome. Using scrap materials sourced by the Nucleo Laboratory, the wooden tables and chairs have been assembled in layers to create striated forms. Additional timber boards are used to create screenprints with quotes inspired by Fyodor Dostoyevsky – celebrating beauty as the only form of salvation. “Salvation in a double sense, the message hidden inside, the soul, and in the re-used material, the body, visible to all.” The exhibition will run November 11-14, 2011.

Ligne Roset and Rich Brilliant Willing partnered together for the first time to erect a VIP lounge experience at the 2011 Armory Show in New York City. The team paired high-end Ligne Roset furnishings with found construction grade materials for the temporary space, and in less than 48 hours, the installation evolved into life. It resulted in a relaxing, comfortable and delightfully surprising environment in a 5000-square-foot garage at Piers 92 and 94

This series of plates by Nir Meiri are made from two basic materials: concrete and wood. I think that the feet look like ballerina toes, delicately balancing the treats. This project is currently on exhibit in the Mishkan gallery in Holon, Israel.
