A unique looking bed made from unexpected materials, the Organ Bed is truly one-of-a-kind. The design for this eye-catching bed was inspired by the texture of varying lengths of organ pipes. It is made entirely of half-inch PVC conduit and can be easily disassembled into four parts.
This bed is the work of BRC Designs, and was displayed during the recent ICFF international contemporary furniture fair. Other work from BRC includes a matching Organ Table & Chair and plenty of other completely unique designs. See more here.

I loved the BRC Designs booth at ICFF. I spent quite some time in there just touching and playing with everything. BRC is Benjamin Rollins Caldwell, who loves designing using odd and unusual materials, making very functional items out of them. Every piece asks you to interact with it, but they don’t feel over-designed or unusable.

Stretch is more than a cool chair design, it’s artist Jessica Carnevale’s attempt to bring the exuberance of the fashion world into her designs. Using a simple shape, Jessica experimented with a number of different materials before choosing latex, bungee, and rope, enabling her to use bright colors and enjoy wondrous elasticity. Fun and fabulous, I think Jessica definitely realized her goal of incorporating fashion into furniture.

This stunning pendant is part of Moonbasket, a project started by designer and artist Dani Le Roy from Cape Town. This community based project involves a dynamic team of people and all natural materials like string and braids made from cotton and jute.
The unique quality of each of these lamps combines with their simple, honest look to create their luxurious appeal. In fact, the artists’ idea was to emphasize the point that crochet is one of the few crafts that can only be done by people and not replaced by machines, and that honest handmade beauty is certainly apparent here. What I enjoy most about the vases is the element of the unexpected. Sure we’ve all seen vases before and most of us have seen PVC pipes at one point or another.
