Fashion Inspired by.. a Bedroom!

It’s Fashion Week here in NYC and naturally all of our social media feeds are being flooded with fashion. One thing in particular really caught my eye- fashion designer Phillip Lim’s Spring 2015 Collection that was inspired by.. his bedroom! Apparently he has been renovating his apartment for almost a year which left him to camp out in the one room of his place that was still intact- his bedroom. All of the fabrics used in this collection are ones you might find in the most elegant boudoir. You can expect to see quilted and quilled fabrics reminiscent of mattress slips, bed-head hairstyles, and heels which were pillowed. His new bag- the triangle Quill even looks like a satin pillow when it’s unhooked. This is proof that designers can truly find inspiration in anything. #iwokeuplikethis

What do you think? Can you see the bedroom-inspiration in these looks?

The Oldest Inn In North America

This weekend, I had the pleasure to go to the OLDEST inn in North America- L’Auberge Saint-Gabriel in Old Montreal. This stone-walled bar dates all the way back to 1688! You would never know with its modern updates though.

What do you think? Do you love it as much as I do?

The Faux Bois Trend

Have you tried it yet? I came across this great idea in the DIY section of pinterest.  The Martha Stewart wood grain rocker seems to work really well on all types of surfaces including walls, dressers, coffee tables, headboards, and cabinets giving them a true “wooden” effect. This could be a fun DIY weekend project for that old table collecting dust in the garage. Try it out!

Barely There Chairs

When you walk into a candle-lit room or a dining room with a gorgeous chandelier as a focal point, it screams of elegance. Something about the clear glass instantly adds a look of sophistication. Another way to achieve that look is with sleek clear chairs. These barely-there chairs make dining rooms more luxurious while giving a farmhouse chic effect to more rustic spaces. Drape a sheepskin rug over a vanity chair to add coziness and warmth. Use your imagination and get the look here. Here are just a few of our favorites!

Vintage Hot Pink Lockwood Console Table

This perfectly pink Lockwood Console Table by Zuo Modern brings a vintage feel with a pop of hot pink color to your chic living space or modern business setting.  I love the rugged and distressed details with antiqued metal accents along the legs and on the drawer handle. Its elegant shape and gracefully curved legs give it a unique and delicate form and yet this piece is fully crafted from elm wood making it sturdy and strong. The single drawer in the center is great for placing keys or small personal items. It is finished with a chic vibrant pink color that will give any dreary space a fresh and vivacious look.

Shabby Chic Design: Love this Look?

Like stepping into a whimsical, real-life dollhouse, shabby chic interior design can give your home that quaint and cozy feeling while maintaining a modern and high-quality style. Most shabby chic interior spaces are created using light colors. Cream, white and beige colored furnishings made from wood or wicker with distressed details and an antiqued finish keep that modern and minimalistic style while the worn features give it a rustic edge. When using lighter colors you also have more room to play around with the colors and style of accent pieces. Pastel pinks, light blues and calm lavenders as accents give it a feminine and delicate appearance. Intricate chandeliers and glamorous light fixtures make perfect accent pieces as well. This is a great look to use for the interior of a beach house, a girls bedroom or a cozy kitchen.
