December 19th, 2012 — Design
Interior designer and architect by training Grégoire de Lafforest created this lamp that looks like a balloon and lights up when a bulb-like pump is squeezed. Made of plywood of walnut, lacquered steel and blown glass, the actual lighting mechanism is hidden, making the lamp feel a little magical, as if alighted by a swift breeze.

Get Out! Living Wall Planter by Woolly Pocket
November 14th, 2012 — Design
Well known for their soft-sided vertical garden wall pockets, Woolly Pocket is back with their latest design, Living Wall Planter . The indoor/outdoor planter is made of a sturdy hard shell with its own self-watering tank with holes to distribute water to the roots when necessary. Twist-Grille Stool by Yen Hao Chen and Hui-Ying Lu
November 6th, 2012 — Design
The fourth piece in the twisted grille series, this stool by Yen Hao Chen and Hui-Ying Lu use twisted metal that is reminiscent of the traditional Taiwanese window grill. The legs of the stool are composed of three triangular elements, and the twisting of the metal adds structural strength to the piece. I like the way that the metal resembles falling ribbons. FOLDONE Table by Novae Architecture
November 3rd, 2012 — Design
Italian firm Novae Architecture churns out a variety of design including both architecture and furniture, with their latest being the FOLDONE Table. The table appears to be a series of folds from one continuous piece of steel, which creates functional areas capable of storing your things. The open, faceted piece not only looks good, but the void creates an overall lightness to the design. Leave it empty or fill it with books or other items you want close by.
