Sam Baron designed these Philippe I tables for Casamania — the evolution of their Marie Antoinette Pop Collection, presented by Casamania in 2009. The tables are made of a combination of lacquered MDF with rich walnut. To me, the legs look like ballerinas delicately balancing on their toes, and overall, the table grouping reminds me a bit of chess pieces…seems kind of an unlikely combination. © 2010 Design Milk | Posted by Jaime in Home Furnishings | Permalink | No comments | Tweet This | Share on Facebook

Tua , designed by Marco Zito, is the newest addition to Foscarini’s 2010 collection. The design of Tua is inspired by the palm of the hand containing a light: a reassuring pose transformed into a single, shaped metal plane that becomes both the support and screen for the lamp. I like the gentle bend and elegant rounded details. Hidden in the fold lies a soft light source, which is reflected off of the underside surface of the bent material. Tua would be a nice addition to a nightstand or work surface.

Laurette is a playful collection of vintage-inspired furniture for children, designed by Laure Bailleux. It is colorful and imaginative, definitely creative enough to stimulate and inspire children (and adults!). The website is currently only in French, but they just started sending press materials in English so I have hopes that they will soon launch an English-translated site. © 2010 Design Milk | Posted by Jaime in Home Furnishings | Permalink | No comments | Tweet This | Share on Facebook

Karolina Tylka created an odd cabinet to store her china pieces. MoCo Loco got a peek at this curious design in which the suspended tableware is held in place by sheets of coated paper.

At the DMY International Design Festival Berlin, Tim Vinke showed his latest project, UNA, versatile modular seating. I can see this used as a side table with magazine rack, two together maybe as a coffee table, or a long chain of them as outdoor seating.
