Earl is a flexible light by German design firm Llot Llov that looks like a giant wooden bead necklace. A hook is also included so that you can position the light source anywhere you need it to be and then easily put it back in the pendant position. Photos by Patrik Flittner

How genius is this 2012 Rocking Chair Sculpture Calendar by Katsumi Tamura for Good Morning, Inc.? It is designed to sit on your desk and it even rocks back and forth like a real rocking chair. The design is meant to symbolize a relaxing way to measure the passage of time, i.e., rocking. The current month sits on the back of the chair while the other months are stored on the seat.

We wrote about the Emerson Dollhouse by Brinca Dada a while back, but we are so smitten, we wanted to show you the other modern models, as well as their line of lovely little furniture . Real people would be lucky to have such well-designed sofas and such. Dutch designer Dennis Parren created the CMYK Lamp for his graduation show from Design Academy Eindhoven. The innovative design uses LED technology to project cyan, magenta, and yellow onto the ceiling and walls. The lamp is shaped like a graphic outline and casts 3D shadows which he discovered only by accident. The experimental lamp sets out to display the mystery of light and what it can be. Currently on display in the Transversality Exhibition at Galerie BSL in Paris through February 11, 2012.

I love the Woody lamp by Luca Mazza for SLAMP because of its wood-inspired graphic shade, which is available in white, orange, purple and blue.
