Materials: MALM Dressing Table, Cabinet Hinges, MDF, 35mm drill bit, Wood Filler Description: I wanted to submit a project of mine which consisted of converting a $150 MALM dressing table into a desk. I looked for a long time to find an elegant slim-line desk that would fit my small apartment, but couldn’t seem to find anything that I liked that would also store away my modem, keyboard and mouse, etc. Plus all desks seem to give you a good 3ft.+ of depth and I just wanted something slim to hold my monitor and speaker system, i didn’t need a large work area…the only desk Ikea had like that was the BESTA BURS, and it was far too long (and pricey at $300) I also had a pretty small budget, and anything I did find seemed too expensive, even if i got the malm occasional table it only came in a nasty red colour and it was $80 for the top and two legs, three pieces of wood! I decided to adapt the drawer on the dressing table to be a hidden keyboard tray with a fold down front. This required a couple of hefty cabinet 180 degree hinges (so that the weight of my arms when typing didnt break it off), a 35mm drill bit to make the holes for it, some finishing nails, and a custom cut piece of mdf (Home depot cut it for free) that matched the birch tone of the rest of the desk to use as the ‘drawer’ bottom (the original drawer bottom was cheap 1/8″ thin bendy fibreboard that wouldn’t support much). I also bought a putty pencil to fill in the visible dowel/screw holes.

Reline is a series of three pieces – the Reline Chair, Reline Lounge Chair and Reline Stool. Each piece is made from silicon rubber that is also used in medical equipment. The strength of the silicon rubber provides stability while the mobility of it provides comfort.
As you can see, next to each piece of the ReLine series is a mathematical graph. Each ReLine piece was based off of a popular mathematical equation, as the curves of the chair, lounge chair and stool match the curve of the line.
The Reline Collection is designed by Yuki Yamamote, a product designer based out of Japan. For more of his works, check out his website at: http://www.yy-design.net/

Materials: LACK tv unit, KLUBBO coffee table leg, cushion material, fabric, screws, wood pieces, L shape brackets
Description:
1. Arms:
Use wood glue to secure two pieces of 4X6X21.5 and one 2X4X21.5 together for the creation of the arms. Sand edges then place thin layer of foam filler to soften the top and surroundings of the arms. Lastly upholster both arms.
2. Base:
Take apart LACK TV unit and use the top for the base of the couch where you will be sitting. Secure both arms to the LACK unit. Then place it on top of the KLUBBO coffee table legs and secure.
3. Back:
To upholster you need to find the shape of where the arms and cushions will be and exclude it. Staple fabric down and fill cushion material for the upper half of the back. (The entire back will not be cushioned because it will be pushed against the arms and seat cushions … so avoid that portion when upholstering).
You can also create a tufted look by stapling down the areas you want and placing buttons there.
4. Securing:
Place back and secure it to the base with screws. I recommend to use L shape brackets found at Home Depot for a more stable result.
5. Cushions:
I used two 4X22X24 inch foam for the seat cushions found at thrift store, but you can use any material you like for this portion and just upholster it. I believe you can find this type of thick foam at crafts stores.
6. Lastly make some pillows to go with it and enjoy

Tabula Rasa by Benoît Police is a table that contains a series of puzzle pieces nested so evenly that you would assume they were always there. Police challenges the idea of the blank slate by “planting” a “memory” in the table — making it seem that perhaps it has always been there. The fact that this memory is made from a puzzle is all the more thought-provoking. I really love this piece and I hope to see more of the series.

Description: This is a few years old but wanted to share it. I don’t know the name of the Ikea “chest of drawers.” But it is very recognizable to any Ikea fan. I just looked on the site and i guess they no longer sell it?
We drilled a hole for the drain through dresser top and completely removed the rear of the chest so there was plenty of access for the hot and cold water lines etc..
coming from the wall.
The drawers were the hardest part. We removed a section of the back of the drawers and added two pieces of wood for support. Allowing the drawers to open and close “around” the plumbing. Kinda surrounding the drain pipe. The drawer spaces are now U-shaped instead of a square box.
Oh…and we put several coats of clear over the top of the wood so water would not easily mar the finish.

I can’t really explain why I like this light, but I know that I do. I saw it and I had to know more, so I headed over to the designer, Charles Crawford’s website.
What I came across was really interesting. The light is made of parts Crawford got from eBay and Ikea. I guess some designers shop just like the rest of us! The electrical cable is from Sweden but bought from a German eBay seller and the body of the lamp is made from an Ikea Lack side table. He is currently producing a limited run of twenty five pieces, each of which will be signed and numbered. And the best part- they are a reasonable $150! Head here for more info or to get one for yourself.
