TMU stands for Tie Me Up, a plywood chair designed by Luca Macrì ( LAM ) that you put together yourself. Using cable ties, you put the pieces of the chair together yourself like a giant puzzle. I’ll bet this is much more fun than using an Allen wrench and pictogram directions… Wouldn’t it be fun to have a competition to see who can put it together the fastest? Photos by PEPE fotografia .

I love this piece of furniture called Pl(a)ywood by German designer Silvia Knüppel . Made of 38 layers of plywood boards, loosely stacked, the shape of Pl(a)ywood is determined by what you decide to use it for. Shift different sections out to create pedestals for items and store items in the recessed areas. Processed Paper is a project by Pia Wüstenberg that, thus far, consists of a folding table, paper lights and vases, as well as trestle legs. The table legs are made from rolled paper processed on a lathe. The legs are connected to a plywood top that folds to turn into a smaller table with a vase on top.

Inspired by traditional wooden shipbuilding techniques, Maritime is a solid wood range of chairs that are skinned internally with a formed plywood shell. Designed by Benjamin Hubert for Casamania , Maritime’s construction technique — where the supports are visible on the outside — allows for a distinctive design language that is in harmony with the material and production. The ribs allow for a structurally robust chair with minimum use of material

DOK is a sideboard by Reinier de Jong that is made of corroded steel. By allowing nature to create the pattern on the surface, each sideboard is different. To stop the corrosion, each piece is finished with a transparent lacquer. DOK is made of separate pieces that can be individually ordered to create a custom piece. The front and back are made of plywood so that it can be a free standing.

BUILD LLC has created this re-usable Christmas tree prototype out of plywood. Based on the classic Frasier Fir, a popular Christmas tree choice in the Pacific Northwest, this tree is about 5 feet tall. It’s two leaves slide together with a slip notch and then when the holidays are over, you can easily detach and flat pack the tree. For now, this is just a prototype, but let’s hope they start manufacturing these in time for next year. Looking for modern Christmas tree ideas
