Curl Table Lamp by Sebastian Bergne for Luceplan Spa

The design of the Curl table lamp combines both the light source and the light’s reflector into one curvy piece. Designed by Sebastian Bergne for Luceplan Spa , the unconventional lamp uses what’s known as “tuneable” LED lighting to adjust the white light temperature from 2400˚ to 3500˚ kelvin.

Design & Decor: Square Wreaths

Have you ever seen a square wreath before? Up until this post on Coco + Kelley with the first square wreath above, I’m not sure that I ever have! But now that I have seen them, I am obsessed. What a difference changing the shape can make!

Not that there is anything wrong with a round wreath, but it’s always fun to do normal things a bit differently. Plus, I love the way the shape works with the rectangular shape of a door, even better with square or rectangular windows.

While these are great for holiday decor, the first and fourth wreaths could be used all year long.

What do you think of square wreaths? Do they give wreaths a more contemporary look or do you prefer the traditional round wreath?

A Lamp That Blows Bubbles by Front Design

Presented last week at Design Miami, Front Design’s new Surface Tension Lamp designed for Booo is pretty darn awesome. Essentially it’s a light that constantly blows bubbles. The bubbles catch and reflect the light, just like a regular lightbulb, except each of these is temporary with flecks of color

Skim Milk: Wanmokku by Torafu Architects

Wanmokku is a minimal design created by Japan-based  Torafu Architects . The initial inspiration for the design came from an informal encounter with a Jack Russell Terrier. Through careful observation, the designers noticed that the dog would always come into close proximity to the clothes of the owner – most likely due to the reassuring scent and pleasant touch of the fabric. Torafu decided to take this interesting observation a step further by creating a furniture piece which would use the owner’s old clothes as a foundation for where a dog could play and rest. The elastic nature of the clothes forms a hammock like surface when attached to the frame.

Friday Five with Martin Yeeles of Bob’s Your Uncle

Martin Yeeles, a graphic designer, is this week’s Friday Five subject, and he’s the co-founder and creative director of Boston-based stationery and gift company, Bob’s Your Uncle . He created all of the Bob’s Your Uncle line, which includes boldly contemporary greeting cards, gift wrap, place mats, file folders, dish towels, and more. In 1993, he and his wife, company co-founder and former shoe designer Michele Yeeles, moved to the States from their native England  “just for a year or two,” and never left. In case you’re not familiar with the saying, “Bob’s your uncle” is a British expression used to indicate that a given task is very simple. It was possibly inspired by Victorian Prime Minister, Robert Cecil, who appointed his nephew to a ministerial post

Chair Pole by Paul Nederend

Designer Paul Nederend has turned his fascination for traditional woodworking into a beautiful new seat called  Chair Pole . The chair’s wooden frame, which is made of European oak, is created with traditional woodworking techniques and the seat is upholstered using a more contemporary fabric – Hallingdal from Kvadrat (1968). I love the hard and soft mixture and the bit of texture in the seat. The rounded stick-like wood legs and armrests are very Scandinavian and remind me of architectural elements found in wooden buildings like cabins.

Pig on the Wings Stool by Gentle Giants Studio

Pig on the Wings is a stool that has animal-like feet. They look like webbed duck feet to me, but – hey – pigs will work, too. Designed by Gentle Giants Studio , the stool is an homage to the Traccia Table by Meret Oppenheim . It assembles without using any screws or glue; all parts are wedged together. Pretty Places That Have Nothing in Common

Today was one of those days where I just wanted to look at gorgeous spaces for some inspiration and something nice and enjoyable to look at. So I went to Pinterest, naturally.

And let me tell you, while I did find ENDLESS amounts of gorgeous living rooms, bedrooms and more, almost every picture I clicked either went to another page on Pinterest or to a Tumblr page with no direct link, just a full page of images – not the one I had clicked on! Needless to say, Pinterest frustrates the heck out of me sometimes with all of its inconsistencies. Does anyone else find that problem? It could just be the type of day I’m having – which is why I’ve included these pretty images above – even though they have nothing in common!

I’m in the mood for a white space with pale pinks and greys and fluffy pillows and fur. I’m not sure why, but that was what I was looking for. I’m constantly drawn to that and may need to recreate a girly grey room in my home – I’m almost there with my bedroom – I would just need to switch out some blues for pinks, if my fiancee allowed!

So anyway, now that I’ve rambled on. What do you think of these spaces? What catches your eye? I know that gold sequin wall sure catches mine!
