Gradient Cabinet by Ka-Lai Chan
November 20th, 2012 — Design
Dutch designer Ka-Lai Chan ‘s latest work, the Gradient cabinet, holds things you want to display while also being a piece of art in itself. Cords made from polyester-covered natural latex are wound around the metal frame and become closer together the higher they go, making the objects that are on display partially hidden.

Modern Kitchen Accessories by Hlynur Atlason for Umbra
November 19th, 2012 — Design
Partnerships happen everyday in the design world and when it’s between a brilliant housewares company and one innovative designer, you have yourself a match made in design heaven. This happens to be the case when the New York-based Icelandic designer Hlynur Atlason recently teamed up with Umbra to create two new kitchen designs – Bento and Tricon . Bento is more than just a cutting board – It’s a cutting board plus measuring cup/storage system. The board acts as a lid to the set of five measuring cups that settle in underneath. Perfect for prepping early and cooking later

Extendable Table by Vidame Creation
November 18th, 2012 — Design
This Extension Table by Vidame Creation is a pretty cool concept. It looks like an ordinary table, but it’s made of small slats of wood (or Corian) that open up and close through a mechanism that turns the individual pieces on their sides to expand the tabletop – like pushing over a row of dominoes.

November 16th, 2012 — Design
For this week’s installment of CMYLK , we’ve done something a little different. Instead of artwork and rooms, we’ve created Colourlovers palettes for four rugs from Spartanburg, South Carolina-based floor covering company Milliken . These abstract designs are works of art in and of themselves. French designer Caroline Gomez is well known for her simple yet functional objects that focus on natural materials. Pöl is the latest collection that consists of two desktop organizers that serve different purposes. The overall organic shape is meant to reflect a puddle, which is the English word for Pöl. The first is Tablette, which has slots to hold papers, notebooks, and pencils and then Plateau is a storage tray with two separate compartments to keep your small desk accessories.
