Kitara Coffee Table by Max Ptk

Kitara is a coffee table from Ukrainian-based designer and digital artist, Max Ptk . Sitting on an A-frame structure, the double layered table combines geometric lines with simple materials, all with a pop of bright yellow thrown in for good measure. Made with only a few parts that assemble easily, the sleek table mixes the natural wood with the painted to form the frame, both of which contrast well with the shiny white glass used for the tabletops. Weekly Six: 10.5.12

Happy Friday!

I can’t believe it’s already Friday, and already October. It seems the weeks go by faster and faster as each one passes. But, hey, I’m not complaining that the weekend is here! Hope you have something fun planned! Here is this week’s weekly six:

1 – Glitter + Champagne = two of my favorite things!

2 – This is the perfect shade of gray.

3 – A handful of delicious pizza recipes – always easy and delicious!

4 – Love this rug from new store Lulu & Georgia.

5 – A magnetic coffee table that can be made into whatever your heart desires.

6 – Pitch Perfect is a must-see. Seriously.

London Design Festival 2012: Dementia Music Box by Chloe Meineck

University of Brighton graduate Chloe Meineck  was exhibiting her Music Memory Box at Tent London as part of the London Design Festival . She spent two years conducting research into the positive effect familiar music can have for those with dementia – listening to music from certain periods of their lives can help trigger even their most inaccessible memories. She was driven to act on her findings and so created this gorgeous music box. It’s immediately tactile and reminds me of boxes full of little treasures I had as a child. Each object represents a happy memory and plays a certain piece of music when placed in the center of the box. Chloe developed this box especially for a lady called Barbara

Wardrobes

I need a new wardrobe. I wish that meant the kind of wardrobe that is the entire inventory of clothing. But what I need is the kind of wardrobe that will store all of those clothes! In my case, the wardrobe will be downstairs in the basement, and not a part of my decor in any of the bedrooms, but I wouldn’t mind if it was.

Whether colorful or just plain white, the wardrobes above look pretty sleek in their settings. Plus, they’re keeping everything organized so I think that attributes to their clean look. A major thing of wardrobes is having the space for them – its not like a closet that is built into the wall – so you have to make sure you have the extra room needed for one. In the last two images above, it appears that both rooms have two wardrobes arranged next to each other, which I think would be a nice look to take up a whole wall. This way, you don’t have a single wardrobe sticking out somewhere!

What do you think of wardrobes? Do you have one?

Piecing Together Furniture Like Building Blocks: Sam Scott

UK-based designer and craftsman Sam Scott uses the scraps that pile up in the corner of an East London workshop to create surprisingly modern and artistic furniture. Working with Tim Greany and Dom Shanks as Constructive and Co., Sam considers his work like the LEGO of the cabinet-making world – piecing wood together to build creative and – at time – eye-popping creations. He will be showing his work at Canary Wharf in a new exhibition that runs through mid-November. What: Pieces Together: Carol McNicoll Ceramics Sam Scott Furniture When: September 24, 2012 – November 16, 2012 Where: Lobby, One Canada Square, Canary Wharf, E14 5AB Share This: Twitter | Facebook | Discover more great design by following Design Milk on Twitter and Facebook

Mirrored Nightstands

Does anyone else love mirrored furniture as much as I do? I just can’t enough! I wonder what my house would look like if almost every piece was mirrored!

Anyway, for today I’ll stick to mirrored nightstands. I have them in my bedroom, and last night when I couldn’t sleep, I was just staring at the one next to my bed and admiring it’s beauty. I tried to take a picture of one but it didn’t come out good. I just love the hint of glamour that mirrored furniture adds to a room – and surprisingly they aren’t too bad to keep clean.

What do you think of these mirrored nightstands? Do you like the effect they add to these bedrooms?
