New Approach by Jorge Penadés

Spanish-born, Netherlands-based designer Jorge Penadés created New Approach, a project that walks a fine line between art and a functioning object for your home. Essentially a light, the piece consists of geometric wooden frames that fan out, making a sculptural element for you to appreciate at various angles. Photos by Jorge Penadés. Limit Bookshelf Divider by Alp Nuhoglu

Composed of 36 boxes that are 36cm square, Limit is a shelving unit designed by Alp Nuhoglu that actually has, well, no limits. You can stack and place the boxes any way you wish, both horizontally and vertically, to create any number of combinations to make the perfect shelf or room divider. The finished product not only is great for storage, it creates a pretty cool optical effect in the room giving it an almost sculptural quality. Limit is available through Delta Ofis . Metrobench by Stephen Shaheen

Metrobench by Stephen Shaheen is a conceptually-driven sculptural seating element using recycled New York City Metrocards. Stephen was inspired to use these discarded objects — once very personal and expendable — in a way that reflects the manner in which mass transit joins many diverse lives into a single moment or path together.

Apu by Hanna Ehlers

Zeitraum’s 2010 collection combines sculptural designs with contemporary refinement. In a departure from all-wood accents, ceramic is integrated beautifully with the new Apu designed by Hanna Ehlers. The Apu makes entertaining easy with its removable ceramic top and solid wood base (walnut, oak, or ash). Versatility is key and Apu may be utilized as a side table, serving tray, or vase
