Polish designer Marta Pietrusiak created myKitty to help cat owners with modern taste incorporate attractive cat beds and scratchers into their homes without it being an eyesore. Made of corrugated cardboard made into modern, curvy shapes, these beds will instantly attract your cat – plus, they’ll hold up. There are two versions – LUI and VIGO – both available in either white and natural color cardboard or brown. I love the one with the cutouts – your cat can snooze on top and crawl through, too.

A few years ago, Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola designed a collection of rugs for Gandia Blasco called Mangas that were various patterns patchworked together into different shapes. Now she’s expanded on the collection with Mangas Space , a series of modular seating pieces and rugs that can be mixed up in a multitude of arrangements. Much like the rugs, they look like large knitted sweaters in a menagerie of patterns, textures, and colors that make you want to curl up and get cozy. The collection features seating modules, square and rectangular poufs, large and small rectangular rugs, and square rugs. The collection is being presented at Maison&Objet in Paris from January 18th – 22nd, 2013.

The Invariants is a collection of vases by by Sergey Makhno that uses familiar materials and shapes like concrete and a three-liter jar. Named after “exact mathematical sciences and means property of the object to remain unvarying upon transformations,” the collection contains very simple geometric forms — a square, rectangle, circle and are reminiscent of the building blocks that surround us in urban environments. David Fox launched the Magic stool for Boss Design , a seating element in the shape of a mushroom. Inspired by fungi, the stool is both fun and functional with a sturdy steel base and an upholstered top. I would love to see an entire room of these in random shapes and sizes, mimicking how mushrooms behave in nature.
