Materials: IVAR side units, IVAR shelf, OBSERVATOR cross-braces, LENDA fabric, push-pins, hammer, screwdriver Description: Having quite small bathroom, without space for closet or an opportunity to replace any furniture, since we are renting, we have to be creative. There are many space-savers for bathroom on the market but most of them quite ugly and/or expensive ($100 easily).

Materials: Ikea table, and stackable Ikea shelves. Description: I was originally looking for a monitor stand for my iMac . My intent was to lift my iMac slightly off the desk so I could have just enough space for a keyboard, my laptop, or some papers. Another feature I was looking for was some front facing USB ports, since all iMacs have the USB ports on the rear of the monitor – makes using a USB hub almost a necessity. Upon browsing online it seemed like a decent monitor stand for my iMac was going to run me $60 – $80 for the bare minimum that I was looking for.

Shay Carmon and Ben Klinger have officially joined forces as Studio Ve , recently designing a series of simple but unique shelves. The materials are very basic — wood and steel, with the emphasis on how the books are placed on the shelf. Therefore, the shelves act more as exhibits rather than simply a place where books go to rest. Domina Shelf With no book supporters on the shelf, books tend to fall and create a domino effect.

Materials: 2 Hyllis shelving units, a good screwdriver Description: The Hyllis is a nice piece of furniture to begin with, in my opinion, despite the awful name.Simple, honest metal and a few screws. Lovely. Also, the Hyllis is embarrasingly cheap. The idea is simple – stock to units on top of each other. Save space, get a cooler looking piece of furniture

Materials: STENSTORP kitchen island NOK 3.250,-, 4 wheels ca. NOK 1200,-, drill, hammer
Description: A couple of years ago I bought a STENSTORP kitchen island. Because we have little space, I wanted to have put wheels on it for more flexibility. We did the makeover this winter and it works so well!
My sister is a handy woman and did most of the work. I took pictures, and chopped of the legs, actually sawed them!
The item has shelves on one side (now called backside). On the reverse side there is an open space so you can use it as a bar, with stools (now called front side). The two parts are divided by a wall, which serves as the back of the shelves.
First we took the top of the kitchen island.
Then we sawed of the horizontal planks that are holding the front side legs. Then we shortened all legs.
We took the legs from the front side and fasten it to the vertical plank that is holding the wall.
Then we took horizontal planks and fasten it under the legs, and fasten the wheels in them.
In the end we put the top back on!!!
Voila! And good luck!
