Matrioshka is a system of wooden storage units that nest inside one another designed by Sasa Mitrovic of TwentyTree and manufactured by S.C.S. plus & Ergomade . Like Russian matrioshka nesting dolls, the largest item holds all the smaller cabinets, which each hold each other and you just don’t know when it’s going to end

The Leather Collection by Maarten De Ceulaer for Nilufar is a collection of artistic, sculptural storage pieces that reflect the designer’s great passion for traveling and exploring the world. Like totems to travel, these towers and piles of suitcases in various leathers were created in collaboration with one of the most renowned leather artisans in Belgium, Ralph Baggaley. Each suitcase looks to be intricately and carefully made, tailored to reflect the luxurious and sophisticated of all nomads. In the flexible Chest of Suitcases , every drawer can be positioned to any direction, so the chest can be placed against a wall or in the middle of a room, so that the drawers can open from all sides. The Pile of Suitcases , which was the first piece in the collection, was thoughtfully assembled to make sure each section housed a particular type of garment.

Cuppo is a minimal wall storage design created by Osaka-based company Ideaco . Fortunately, I had the pleasure of recently meeting the founder of the company, Ichiro Haba. He founded the company on the basis of providing smart, innovative designs that are both simple and functional. Most of the products designed by Ideaco are common household items that have been re-invented with improved aesthetic and utility. Cuppo is a prime example of Ideaco’s philosophy toward minimalist, functional design

Another Ceramic Candlestick designed by Marie Dessuant for the British furniture brand Another Country was launched during the London Design Festival . Each candlestick, which is made of a ceramic lid on a turned oak base, sits atop a box that can be used for storage or keeping belongings safe. I love that they resemble pots and pans, but also are reminiscent of old-timey candleholders.
