From storage pieces to tables, Keir Townsend has created a series of art-meets-furniture for Italian manufacturer Laurameroni . Reminiscent of art sculptures of Donald Judd, these metallic furnishings play with light and trick the eye. The process of making the pieces involves applying a patinated surface to metal strips and then folding them onto the furniture.

Description: We had a really hard time trying to find a platform for our Cal-King mattress that would afford us the kind of storage we needed for our small two-bedroom condo in Southern California. Most of the platform storage beds for sale were prohibitively expensive. We had seen a few people make smaller beds on this site using the Expedit bookshelves, so we decided to give it a go ourselves. As yesterday was all about getting organized, today is about getting organized in ultimate modern style. And sound! The chic storage cabinet above is the Caixa Cabinet with Speakers, which as the name states, has speakers for iPod and TV integration.
This sleek modern cabinet is designed by Paolo Cappello of Milan. To me, there’s nothing better than a nicely designed piece of furniture that is dually functional – as this cabinet is – providing great sound and great storage!

Materials: Billy shelf (white), 1/2″ white particleboard Description: A few years ago, I bought my first condo, which had a loft floorplan. Most of the room was one big ground floor, with a small lofted bedroom and even smaller study area/second bedroom. As such, I promised myself that every piece of furniture in the living room would either (1) serve at least two purposes to reduce furniture clutter, or (2) act as storage. Thus I decided to transform my little Billy shelf into a new IKEA family member, which one of my coworkers dubbed “Dra ut hyllan” (apparently it means “pull out shelf). I call it a craft armoire, because it holds my sewing machine and my crafts.
