Finally got around to “remaking” the dining room table. The top is from the old table…the cart was bought on Craigslist. The Capita braces are from IKEA.

I Only Have Eyes For You, a unique coffee table with a name that’s just as interesting as the table itself.

Atlas
September 21st, 2010 — Designer Stuff
While this Atlas may not be your tradition book of maps, it provides the perfect display area for them! Made completely from tempered glass, the Atlas is designed by Danny Lane for Fiam, a furniture company based out of Italy.
The table top is made from a single piece of tempered glass that gracefully swoops in the center. The eye-catching legs of the Atlas table are 19 sections of hand-carved glass that is glued onto each other. The Atlas is available in several sizes, in rectangular and square shapes, and can be used in many ways: as a desk, a coffee table or dining table.
Where would you use the Atlas table?

Table Lamps for Your Wall
August 9th, 2010 — Designer Stuff
A fresh take on the table lamp, these table lamp silhouettes are wall mountable for a unique look. Made by Gumdesign for Zeroombra, an Italian design company, the Sognibelli lamps come in a variety of colors from bright purple and orange to simple black and white. The base of each lamp has a small shelf for accessories, such as eyeglasses, books or magazines. As an added eco-friendly bonus, Sognibelli lamps use LED lighting to save on the amount of electricity they rely on.
Made from aluminum, these fun wall lamps are a great fit above (or instead of) a bedside table or in a nursery next to a rocking chair. Where would you use the Sognibelli Lamps?

What Can Your Coffee Table Do?
August 7th, 2010 — Designer Stuff
Coffee tables are something you spend a lot of time looking at, and perhaps that explains why I am so fascinated by them. I always have my eye out for unique ones that are more than the rectangular norm. In fact mine is not a coffee table at all, but actually a trunk that easily opens for hidden storage space (yes!)
So it’s easy to see why the White Desert Coffee Table caught my eye. Designed by Karim Mekhtigian for Hid’n by La Roche, this linear table dips in the middle forming a bowl of sorts for fruit, candles, flowers, even a beer or two! I love the possibilities and the design looks pretty cool too.
What do you think – do you like an unique table like this or do you prefer something more traditional?

Sweet as a Nut
July 25th, 2010 — Design
Sweet as a Nut is a UK-based company that applies artwork to coffee and side table tops, from roses to tapes to whiteboards. You can choose from one of their designs or you can contact them to create your own. I love the whiteboard idea — what a great piece for a kids room or a huge one as a conference table! © 2010 Design Milk | Posted by Jaime in Home Furnishings | Permalink | 3 comments | Tweet This | Share on Facebook

Successful Living from Diesel
June 24th, 2010 — Design
We featured the GRAF lighting by Successful Living from Diesel a while back, but at ICFF I was able to get a closer look at all of the pieces in the collection, specifically the ones resulted from the partnership with Moroso . Nebula Nine Sofa and Cumulus chair are like large clouds, with generous shapes, soft cushions and stonewashed linen covers, ideal for relaxing and socializing. The frame is in wood throughout, very strong and compact
