The Fly Wing Flapper by Dutch industrial designer Ramon Middelkoop , who teaches product design at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, is a plastic fly swatter with a lacy design that echoes the pattern of the annoying insects’ wings. While it’s certainly better looking than the typical hardware store variety of swatter, we wonder if the openings are a tad too large for an average-sized pesky housefly. Still, we applaud the effort to elevate the mundane.

Estudi Arola created a set of lamps that look like tables, or, a set of tables that function as lamps. And, they even made a bookshelf. I like how you can hang the little one on the wall and use it as a sconce. Photos by Koke Bartrina.

Italian product design firm Ex.t recently launched three new products: Fir, a freestanding coat stand/towel rack; the Flat Washstand bathroom vanity; and a ceramic version of its Blub 4 pendant. All broadcast the the sparse aesthetic for which the brand is known, and like its predecessors, embody an exquisite synthesis of form and function. Fir is a sparsely alluring, freestanding, varnished metal coat stand or towel rack.

The Grand Canyon Table by Amit Apel has a decorative crack from one corner to the center, with blue-tinted glass in between, acting like a glass river. I think this is kind of neat. Louie Rigano made this clock using three circles in the primary colors to represent hour, minute, and second hands. About-Time challenges the way we perceive time and makes gazing at the clock a little more fun (and challenging). via NOTCOT Share This: Twitter | Facebook | Discover more great design by following Design Milk on Twitter and Facebook
