Loop Chair by Sophie de Vocht for Casamania

The Loop Chair by Dutch designer Sophie de Vocht for Casamania is part chaise part carpet. Inspired by Sophie’s interest in the technique of tufting, which is typically used to make rugs, she created a simple metal frame over which to loop the textiles in different shapes. As the chaise drops to the floor, the loops become exaggerated until they fan out onto the floor. Nendo: Textured Transparencies

Nendo has an exhibit going on this week during Salone called Textured Transparencies . Descriptions below are from the designers. Transparent-Table We cast clear acrylic in a wooden form with a strong grain and assembled the resulting pieces to create a table made of ‘transparent wood’. We reproduced the butt ends faithfully and beveled the edges like floorboards, and matched the grains ends and dimensions of the wood used for the table legs to the ‘transparent wood’ to create a unified piece. The two tables have specific and different optical effects: at first glance the black table is wood, but a closer look reveals its transparency, while the clear table is the transparent at first glance, and only later reveals its wooden form.
