Nucharin Wangphongsawasd is a graduate student in the Woodworking and Furniture Design at Rochester Institute of Technology. We’ve featured her XYLO table and Screw rings before – fantastic work from someone who hasn’t even graduated yet! Ike is an ash Hallway table inspired by repetitive pattern construct by using the mixing between hardwood and wooden strips to represent a progression in form start from solid close space to open space which provide light and airy feeling for the overall table. Stella is an ash and wanut side table inspired by repetitive pattern construct by using the mixing between hardwood and wooden strips with technique using wedge to create tension between each strip for creating a structure which start from solid close space to open space. Sculptural Tables Named Ike and Stella

Recent graduate of Holon Institute of Technology, Israeli designer Hadar Glick created a series of vases that reflect on loss and memories associated with it. Loss translates into every society and to every person and as Glick says, “A loss is always a loss.” Nature and flowers often go hand in hand with loss, whether they’re displayed at funerals or sent to someone who’s lost someone special. This series of six vases were made because everyone can relate to them and knows what they’re for and what they represent. They are empty vessels, void of something, perhaps a loss. Quite the opposite of flowers which slowly die, the vases are made from long-lasting materials that will continue along with your memories.

With a desire to join the two materials, Tel Aviv-based Dana Bachar created Felted , a collection of lamps made from felted wool and metal. A recent industrial design graduate of Holon Institute of Technology, she felted wool over the metal frames essentially joining them together. The soft, organic nature of the felt with the industrial metal creates an artistic and unique combination that’s also functional. Piece Per Week is project initiated by Groupa Studio , a recently founded design collection run by Holon Academic Institute of Technology (Israel) graduates Shimshovitz, Yiffa Levin and Chen Guiterman. Piece Per Week is a 10 week marathon of fresh ideas, rummaging through drawers, sketches, experiments, materials, shapes, planning, executing, shooting, pricing and finally…the finished product, furniture or some other designed object, was published every Tuesday on their Facebook page . All items on Piece Per Week are for sale. This reminds me a bit of Dominic Wilcox’s speed creating project

Truncheon is a series of lamps designed by Commonwealth (Zoe Coombes and David Boira) for MatterMade consisting of a suspended tube light, an articulated task lamp and a freestanding tube that rests against a wall. Avoiding unnecessary knobs or switches, the Truncheon adheres to its namesake, a simple compact stick form fashioned out of traditional materials and shaped by advanced digital technology. From Sandro Santantonio comes the Semjase floor lamp. Technology, design and poetry are the guidelines that have taken to the planning of this floor lamp. With its big dimensions, it has been designed to serve as an elegant piece of furniture rather than an accessory. From the designer: At the end of the past century Semjase entered the human make-believe: a slim woman, with long hair adorning her face, dressed with a close-fitting and sinuous white dress.
