OrWa Designs is a two-person team based in Vancouver, WA that builds solid wood furniture at an affordable price. (They also love finding vintage collectibles to help decorate homes.) All of the pieces can be customized to your size and color choice, and are available through the artisan site collective CustomMade . Excited for their nightstand to be featured in this month’s Deconstruction , they said, “Now people can see what a tiny furniture making business is like. We do it out of our two bedroom house, so things are tight, but we manage!” Let’s see how they do it. We start out with long, solid pine 3/4-inch boards, cutting the correct size for the sides, top, and bottom with our table saw, making sure the cuts are precise.

Vancouver-based designer Greg Papove has created a collection of furniture that was inspired by your everyday socks and the stories they have to tell. Socks + Furniture is a coffee table, floor lamp, and sofa that challenge one to take a second look at the mundane and not to overlook the simple things in life. The Five Toes Coffee Table took inspiration from toe socks and supports its tabletop with five legs, one for each of the toes. The socks act as fasteners when assembling and disassembling the table. You can even customize it by using any kind of socks you wish

Zoe Garred runs Vancouver-based design studio Fleet Objects . She designed the Fleet Ribbon Ornament as a way to use up some aircraft plywood she had laying around. The thin plywood material proved to be bendable and very strong
